Oregon Coast:
Newport and Points North

Our route home took us back to Newport's harbor and along the old Yaquina Bay Road that skirts the bay as it snakes for miles inland toward the little lumber town of Toledo.

It's surprising at first to follow the twists and turns of the bay and see it continue to be so broad.

Piles of oyster shells line the road beside this oyster farm

All along the way, the pilings of former docks line the water's edge, showing the area's traditional connection to life on the water.

The road loops along, taking us slowly homeward, a new view of this serene area waiting around each curve.
