Clear Lake, August 2008

Shoot Date: 8-10-2008

Rental boats line the dock, ready to take visitors out onto the water.  Rental
rates are $10/hour or $25/day.  No motor-powered boats are allowed here.
The air is quiet, the water clear and the pace is beautifully slow.

Steve, Lauren and Paul head out onto the lake.  The clarity of the water is due to the
fact that it's filtered through miles of lava before arriving here.  Steve described the
temperature of the water, which ranges between 35-43 degrees, as "like liquid ice cubes".

When the sun shines, the deep water has a vibrant turquoise tint.  It's said that
you can see down 150 feet or more in some places.

View from the smaller north end of the lake looking south.

Panoramic view of the main part of the lake.
