The watermelon plant spread like a green hand by the roadside.  Little yellow flowers appeared along the length of it.  A girl and her mother walked by.  The girl said, "What's that?" but her mother said, "Watch for cars!" and the bottom of her shoe pressed a few of the yellow blossoms into the dirt.
