A Walk in the Neighborhood - 2

Shoot Date: 9-29-2009

The small end of the Park Avenue pond, across Park Avenue from the main
pond.  I first discovered the pond by taking a wrong turn in an attempt to get
home shortly after I first moved here.  All of sudden, I spotted a sign beside
the road proclaiming 'Duck Crossing', and there it was.  Such a cool thing to
have in the middle of a quiet country neighborhood.

At the edge of the small pond, a goose and several ducks take in the warmth
from the peek-a-boo appearances of the sun.  You can see clouds and blue
sky reflected in the water.

Looking back across the road to the main part of the pond

On the way home, I passed this rose in someone's garden.

My favorite part of Elkay Drive, set within a grove of tall Douglas fir.  On a day
like this, the sun's warmth on dampened branches brings out the sharp
sweetness that scents the Douglas fir forests in the mountains.
It's better than any perfume.

The bright confetti colors of red maple leaves putting on their final display.  I
love trees, and this neighborhood has so many huge ones that add their
beauty and quiet to the surroundings.
